50 Training Hours via Studio 191 West

Our 50 Hour (40 in-person contact hours, 10 preparatory practice hours) Mat Pilates Instructor Training program will be hosted at Studio 191 West and spread over one full week.
SEPTEMBER 2026 COURSE
Monday 21 September - Friday 25 September 2026 | 10:30-16:30
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026 | 13:30-18:30‍
In addition to these 50 hours of training, we provide a Pilates 5 ClassCard (included in your package; this can be used at any Studio 191/The Cosmos location for mat-based Pilates classes) which gives you an extra 5 hours of Mat Pilates exposure. We recommend all trainees to attend our Pilates classes prior to the start of training (if possible) and/or in the mornings/evenings of training days. Each training day consists of 5-6 intensive, practical training hours and can be supported by taking class in the hours before or after. Each Studio 191 and The Cosmos locations host multiple Pilates classes during your training days, so if you're visiting from out of town you will have plenty of opportunity to join our classes whilst you're here! Our studios collectively host over 35 daily Pilates classes and your Pilates 5 Class Card will be active for 6 months from the date you are given it. You can view our live class schedule here.
This training will be held at Studio 191 West. Our training groups are small with a maximum of 15 participants. There is a mat, cushion and a full range of pilates-related props dedicated to each trainee. After completing the course, we create blocks of open-studio practice time for you to continue your development as a Pilates instructor - which is a great asset for those living in Amsterdam, or nearby.
There is still plenty to find out and understand about this program! Below, you will find more details about the course curriculum, plenty of additional benefits, the investment to join the program and a full list of Frequently Asked Questions to help you assess if this is the course for you.

Pilates Instructor Program

Studio 191's Mat Pilates Instructor Training program is an intensive curriculum designed to take you from dedicated practitioner to confident group teacher in seven days; with additional tools designed to get you ready for these contact training days and plenty of additional open-studio hours to practice your teaching skills post-course. In seven consecutive days, you will build a grounded understanding of both classic and contemporary mat pilates — its principles, its
pedagogy, and its practical application in real group settings.
This is not a certification factory. It is a hands-on, small-group training (maximum 15 participants) built around how people actually learn to teach: by doing, receiving feedback, and doing again.
What's Included:
• 50 hours of total training.
• A professional headshot photo and 2 teaching shots taken at Studio 191 West.
• Pilates Mat 5 Class Card (available to you after the initial deposit is placed, thus confirming your spot on the course).

• Ongoing access to our professional, friendly, and supportive community of teachers.

  • Studio 191 has been part of Amsterdam's movement community for over a decade. We are a pilates and movement studio that takes instructing seriously — not as an add-on, but as a discipline in its own right. This is why our courses produce not only knowledgable instructors but skilful ones too.

This teacher training reflects how we work: small groups, honest feedback, a hands-on approach to teaching (from day one) and a genuine investment in the people who come through our doors. We are not producing instructors in bulk. We are helping a small number of people, each intake, become teachers who develop the confidence and skills to lead large group classes in their desired discipline.

What is more, we provide tools and guidance to help you get your teaching career off the ground.

Our Philosophy

We design our trainings to cultivate the most impact whilst respecting your time and energy. We believe in learning through doing. We don’t waste time. We want you to feel what we teach you, and then see you reflect the knowledge and skills back to us accurately - but with your own authenticity. We are dedicated to creating a learning environment that is impactful, respectful, safe and empowering. We want to enrich each moment of training by giving you the most knowledge, hands-on experience and deepest level of understanding possible. We ask ‘why?’ as much as ‘how?’.

Dedicated to Your Success

You don’t need someone else’s choreography when you have knowledge, the skills to execute it and the confidence that what you’re teaching is based on true method, form and anatomy. Break away from needing the choreography handed to you, become a deeply insightful and creative instructor designing your own authentic Mat Pilates classes.

Become a teacher, not a robot

We honour each trainee - what they already know, the experiences they bring with them, the questions they have to offer, the points they have to share. Each course is designed for trainees to receive as much as possible from our course leaders and whilst we have a fast-paced curriculum in place, we often see much enrichment coming from the moments of connection and shared vulnerability. The community cultivated within your training will undoubtedly become a powerful source of encouragement, support and genuine feedback.

Safe and inclusive. Always
