30 Training Hours at Studio 191 de Pijp

Our 30 Hour (in-person) Reformer Pilates Instructor Training will be hosted at Studio 191 de Pijp and spread over two long weekends:
Saturdays 30 May and 06 June 2026 | 15:00-20:00
Sundays 31 May and 07 June 2026 | 15:00-20:00
Mondays 01 June and 08 June 2026 | 10:30-15:30
In addition to these 30 hours of training, we provide a Studio 191 Reformer 10 ClassCard(included in the package) which gives you an extra 10 hours of Reformer Pilates exposure. We recommend all trainees to attend our Reformer classes prior to the start of training (if possible) and/or in the mornings/evenings of training days. Each training day consists of 5 intensive, practical training hours and can be supported by taking class in the hours before or after. Both Studio 191 De Pijp and Studio 191 West locations host multiple Reformer classes during your training days. Our studios collectively host 20 daily Reformer classes, if you prefer to practice in the days surrounding the course then that's also of course highly possible. You can view our live class schedule here.
This training will be held at Studio 191 De Pijp. Our training groups are small with a maximum of 10 participants, carefully-selected for the optimum experience and results of our trainees. There is a reformer and a full range of reformer-related props dedicated to each trainee. After completing the course, we create blocks of open-studio practice time for you to continue your development as a Reformer Pilates instructor.

Reformer Instructor Training: The Bridge

This particular training program is called ‘The Bridge’ as it’s designed for existing teachers (those with existing Mat Pilates training certifications or those who are already teaching Mat Pilates/another movement modality (without full certification), to “bridge” their existing skills into true Reformer Pilates using Balanced Body’s Allegro 2 equipment and accessories (jump board, box and beyond).
This course will be led by industry leader Shane Camaro Caldwell and greatly supported by Breffni O'Reilly who, with her professional background in physiotherapy, biomechanics and pilates, brings valuable lessons to strengthen your: postural knowledge, physical cues and adjustments. Both Shane and Breffni teach weekly classes at Studio 191 so if you haven't met them yet, now is great time to attend their class and connect!
Due to the depth and advanced approach of this particular training program, it is not suitable for those who are new to teaching. A steady practice in Reformer Pilates is required. Please read further for more insights into this specific course and whether or not it's the best fit for you at this moment in your teaching career.
  • a bridge from mat-based teaching to reformer-based teaching

a framework for introducing equipment responsibly

a support for teachers navigating increased complexity and load

a way to develop discernment before independence

  • understanding springs, carriage, props, and resistance as variables

translating mat principles onto the reformer

managing risk where safety is not assumed

knowing when to simplify rather than progress

  • recognize what they do not yet know

slow down before taking on more responsibility

make safer, more intelligent decisions in live classes

  • At the end of the training program, we offer a certification of completed training hours and a professional headshot photo + action shot on the reformer (optional; photos can be taken during the course) which you may wish to use for your personal profile and professional CV/resume etc.

  • Yes, after completing the training we will host several weekend time-blocks where you can attend ‘studio trainee open hours’ to support your teaching practice.

  • a comprehensive reformer certification

a substitute for full equipment training

permission to teach beyond one’s competence

    a shortcut around deeper education

    for first time instructors

  • certify mastery

    guarantee employment

    replace mentorship or continued education

Completion of this training does not imply readiness to teach all reformer classes independently. It implies exposure, orientation, and increased awareness of responsibility

  • When a teacher steps from the mat onto the reformer, familiar movement principles remain, but the conditions in which they operate shift immediately. Load becomes adjustable, feedback becomes mechanical, and consequence becomes faster.

There are new variables that must be considered. What am I now responsible for that I wasn’t on the mat? What is moving now that wasn’t before? Where is the load coming from in the exercise?

  • Yes, we hope to; however we approach the recruitment of new team members as separate to the course and based on individual merit.

Our Philosophy

We design our trainings to cultivate the most impact whilst respecting your time and energy. We believe in learning through doing. We don’t waste time. We want you to feel what we teach you, and then see you reflect the knowledge and skills back to us accurately - but with your own authenticity. We are dedicated to creating a learning environment that is impactful, respectful, safe and empowering. We want to enrich each moment of training by giving you the most knowledge, hands-on experience and deepest level of understanding possible. We ask ‘why?’ as much as ‘how?’.

Dedicated to Your Success

You don’t need someone else’s choreography when you have knowledge, the skills to execute it and the confidence that what you’re teaching is based on true method, form and anatomy. Break away from needing the choreography handed to you, become a deeply insightful and creative instructor designing your own authentic Reformer Pilates classes.

Become a teacher, not a robot

We honour each trainee - what they already know, the experiences they bring with them, the questions they have to offer, the points they have to share. Each course is designed for trainees to receive as much as possible from our course leaders and whilst we have a curriculum in place, we often see much enrichment coming from the group we selectively bring together. The selectivity we apply is to ensure the group we create results in safe, considered and kind time together — not just dedicated to learn and ready to grow. Our application form serves as a starting point for us to know you better and to ensure that you will bring your most dee
